Improve your life in a week with 7 simple methods
Improving your life takes both small and large steps.
First of all, you shouldn’t neglect either the big changes (like setting major goals, changing your source of income, etc.) or the small changes. Simple tricks like setting up your morning routine for habit-building can improve your life quickly.
Here are 7 simple tricks you can start improving your life with in just a week!
1. Sleep consistently
A simple yet effective way to improve your life is to have a consistent sleep schedule.
You will not like it at first, but getting up at the same time every day – even on weekends! – will improve your quality of sleep and make it easier for you to get out of bed. By sleeping in on weekends, you disrupt your internal clock every week, leaving you feeling groggy and not at your best.
Instead, on weekends or holidays, you should set your alarm no more than one hour later compared to your workdays. Ideally, set your alarm to the same time every day. Soon, you will notice positive effects such as:
- Finding it easier to get up.
- Feeling more refreshed in the morning.
- Waking up quicker.
You can start sleeping more consistently right now by changing your alarm.
For more tips on good sleep hygiene, I will write another blog post soon.
2. Build new habits in the morning
Your morning routine is a good time to establish habits.
After all, your mind is still fresh, making it less likely for you to forget anything. And you can also use your alarm clock or notes to remind yourself of your routine. Additionally, your set of habits helps you start into the day with energy and confidence.
The best habits to build in the morning are health-related:
- Good skincare and hygiene routine
- Healthy, nutrient-rich breakfast
These habits are crucial to making the most out of your day and your life. And yet, most people are too groggy to invest effort into their mornings. But with your good sleep hygiene, you should have the energy and wakefulness to be persistent about your morning habits.
You can start developing new morning habits right now by making a list of your habits and habits you want to pick up. Make a plan for your mornings and stick to it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Better is enough.
3. Skip the car and commute with bicycle
Commuting with a bicycle is not an option for everybody. But if you have the opportunity, you should embrace it.
Commuting to work with a bicycle instead of a car will save you money in the long run, improve your health and fitness and might even give you more, better options for routes to take. Bicycles add flexibility to your day and turn your commute into exercise. Talk about effective use of your time!
If you have a bicycle, you can start with your next commute. And if you don’t, buying a bicycle is easy and inexpensive.
4. Build passive income
Seriously: Build. Passive. Income.
Build. Passive. Income.
I will write many blog posts on this topic, but to give you a short overview:
Build. Passive. Income.
What is passive income? It’s a stream of income which is independent of your time. At first, you will have to invest a lot of time, money and effort, but it will pay off in the long run. Having multiple sources of income is already very beneficial, but having sources of income which are working for you even while you sleep is amazing and the list of benefits is long.
Good examples of passive income streams:
- Write an eBook and sell it.
- Invest in a business
- Start a dropshipping business
- Create and sell online courses
You can start building passive income right now by writing a list of skills and knowledge you can offer and other options you have.
5. Learn new things
Every time you learn something, you invest in your brain. And your brain is you.
Learning something new every day is beneficial to your brain health and also expands your perspective. In fact, by never ceasing to study, you keep discovering and re-discovering the world. For some people, this alone can be a source of joy and fulfillment.
Even if you don’t belong to this group, learning will sharpen your mind and give you new ideas and methods. It might also reset your state of mind and relax you.
Remember: you are never too old to learn something new.
You can start learning new things right now by reading something useful. Like my blog, for example. 😉
6. Spend more time in nature
If you can do something outside, you probably should.
Reading a book? Why not read it outside, maybe at a beach?
Exercising? Why not do it in the park?
Working on your startup? Why not take your laptop to a forest?
Fresh air and a change of environment can do wonders for inspiration, energy and concentration. Spending more time outside is both a productivity and a health hack. Yes, even in pandemic times.
You can start going outside more right now by relocating your next activity to your local park or some other nice location.

7. Value your relationships
Be they partners, friends or family: the people you love are worthy of being appreciated.
Often, we only notice how much we valued others when we notice them disappear from our lives. Relationships require effort to stay alive and well. Passion has to be rekindled every day. Luckily, rekindling is always possible.
You can start strengthening your relationships right now by reaching out to your partner, friends and family and committing to spending more quality time with each other.
Conclusion – Improve your life in less than a week
Now you know how to improve your life in just a week. Some of these methods will take longer to take effect, but starting with all of these takes less than a week. You will not see results immediately. However, soon enough you will look back and find your life has changed dramatically. And then, you will be glad for every positive change you have made.
